At Collection World, we believe that creating bespoke travel experiences for our clients should not come at the expense of our planet. We are committed to sustainable travel and reducing our environmental impact, while giving back to the communities and protecting wild life wherever we do business.
Our founder, Elena Moore, was raised on the principles of sustainability by her parents who were both scientists long before this became an urgent global issue. This upbringing instilled in her a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship, which is reflected in our team's work.
We have recently joined Pristine Mood – the first sustainability qualification programme for the luxury travel industry. Pristine Mood is a program created by Serandipians (former Traveller Made), a network of top global travel design agencies that Collection World is a certified member of.
We have pledged to implement over 60 sustainability actions specific to the luxury travel industry within the next 12 months. These actions range from making changes in our office to reduce our environmental footprint and ensuring ethical business practices through to partnering with NGOs where we work and where our clients travel.
We know that the outmost luxury is to leave our planet better than we found it for the future generations.
Pristine Mood was born from a desire to educate and help the luxury travel industry to become more sustainable. As a network company with a wide range of members and partners, Traveller Made believes that by acting together we can make a real difference in the environment and in the society we are in.
Pristine Mood is the brainchild of the Traveller Made network. This initiative aims to raise awareness among the members of the network in terms of sustainability. Through education it can help members to live and work in a greener and less wasteful way. Pristine Mood team conducted extensive research on the sustainability qualification and certification programmes available today across several industries.
There is a gap in the Luxury Travel industry because of the wrong belief that luxury practices cannot be aligned with sustainability initiatives. Although most of the actors in the industry recognize there is a need to reduce negative consequences and enhance positive impacts, some companies do not know exactly where and how to start Pristine Mood is a concrete and down-to-earth sustainability programme that focuses on the luxury Tourism companies that understand the urgency to act and the importance of acting together.
We have three different stages of engagement. With the objective to be progressive, collaborative and informative, you must start at the Seeding phase. You can then upgrade slowly or rapidly to "Budding" and/or "Blooming" stages, depending on your level of awareness and commitment to the suggested actions.
You commit to implementing a minimum of 60 actions out of 110 within two years after your onboarding date
To upgrade to the "Budding" stage, you will have to declare and vouch that you have already implemented and communicated publicly the 60 (or more) actions selected at the "Seeding" stage
To qualify for "Blooming", you will have to prove that you have implemented and communicated publicly the 60 (or more) selected actions.
Our sustainability approach is based on three fundamental pillars:
We are taking steps to minimise our environmental footprint by choosing an office at a sustainable building and reducing plastic and paper use.
We believe in giving back to the community, both locally in the UK and at the destinations we and our customers visit.
We are committed to protecting wildlife and supporting conservation efforts. We have partnered with Mara Cheetah Project and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) to secure habitats for cheetahs in Africa and birds in the UK.
We realise, that the key to the positive impact lies across our entire value chain. While we are focusing on assessing our impact and the ways we can improve, it is already clear that engaging our clients and partners in sustainable practices will be crucial in making a meaningful difference.
We are excited about the journey ahead as we know that the outmost luxury is to leave our planet better than we found it for the future generations.
