Best time to travel

  • For northern Norway, the ideal time to visit is in the autumn. During this season, you’ll encounter fewer crowds, cooler temperatures ranging from 5°C to 10°C, and stunning fall foliage.
  • In southern Norway, the best period to visit is between May and August. During these months, the days are long, the landscapes are lush and green, and temperatures are pleasantly warm, ranging from 16°C to 22°C. This is also the peak tourist season, so expect more visitors. In northern Norway, you can enjoy hiking under the midnight sun during this time.
  • The two regions have distinct climates, so the timing of your visit will depend on your interests and the region you plan to explore. From late November to February or March, Norway transforms into a winter wonderland, especially in the north. If you don’t mind the cold, this is a great time to visit the Arctic Circle for views of the northern lights and enjoy the snow-covered scenery.
  • For visiting the fjords, April, May, and June are the most picturesque months, with fruit orchards along the shore bursting into pastel colors. However, the fjord region has a milder climate and remains a beautiful destination throughout the year.
